Librarian crush of the irregular period: Cherie Yanek
I first met Cherie in 2004 before the Republican National Convention came to town. I heard that the NYC Radical Cheerleaders ("I'm sexy, I'm cute, Political to Boot!") had a library school student in their midst who sported an anti-USA PATRIOT Act button when she cheered.
Radical Reference conducted two workshops and tabled at this year's Grassroots Media Conference. We've been participating in the conference for five years (or so) and a partnering organization for the last two. It's one of my favorite conferences, with lots of sessions I want to attend, even though I don't really consider myself a media maker in the same way that most of the attendees do. I make zines and blog and all that, but it's not with a journalistic intent.

Vani Natarajan of the Brooklyn Public Library and I are speaking at Deirdre Stam's LIU LIS class, offering two minute lightning talks on 10 library activism topics.
I just posted my (really Eric's) photos from the Radical Reference ACRL Preconference Unconference.
Members of Radical Reference (i.e. Lia and me) organized a free unconference to precede the Association of College and Research Libraries biennial conference. About a dozen attendees met for four and a half hours and discussed critical pedagogy, what it means to be a radical librarian, and workplace issues and also conducted a 45-minute work session where we cleared the Radical Reference site of its unanswered questions.

While I am over the top that you have adopted the -WAVE FEMINISM headings, I think you could do better on the references. Per my blog post comment of February 2008, this is what I suggest...
Last weekend I attended the Women, Action & the Media conference at MIT in Cambridge, MA. It was generally empowering and exciting to be at an activist event with a probably 90%+ female population--to learn about all the inspiring work being done, especially by young and youngish women of color.
