Marya Gates Watched 300+ Films Directed By Women, and I Looked Them All Up on Netflix
I'm not the biggest film person, but I do watch a lot of TV and some movies on Netflix. In my reading life, I read women almost exclusively, but I assumed similarly limiting my movie consumption would be all but impossible. It turns out, per this blog post by Cinema_Fanatic Marya Gates, it's possible. Gates watched over 300 movies in 2015. With Marya's permission, I've copied her list, alphabetized it and bolded the films you can stream on Netflix (as of 1/2/16).
I Love Bad Movies #2, Love, Sex, & Friendship
I don't always love compilation zines, and I don't often read zines by cisgender men, but I do love romantic comedies, so chances were 2 to 1 against my being a fan of I Love Bad Movies: Love, Sex, & Friendship. Since I'm writing about it, you can guess that I did, in fact, become enamored of the zine.

Third Girl from the Left
This is one of the best literary novels I’ve read in recent memory. I’ve been too mentally fatigued to enjoy much but genre fiction lately. Lucky Third Girl is both an easy and satisfying read. It tells the story of three generations of African-American women: a woman scarred by a 1921 race riot in Tulsa, her daughter who went to Hollywood to be a movie star and instead became a Playboy bunny and blaxploitation bit player in the 1970s, and then her daughter, who aspire to be a filmmaker in present day New York.
