Citing page numbers in sources
Catalogers are reminded that when citing information from a specific page, or pages, in the source, the page number(s) should be noted in the citation. This is especially true if the information is quoted. (See full instructions for source citations in SHM H 203.) Some citations to page numbers may be omitted. If the source is an unpaged galley, a chapter heading (or the like) may be substituted. When a source is arranged in dictionary style, the page number need not be cited. When a cataloger is providing a general summary of the content of the resource, a page number is not necessary. However, any quotation from a source not covered by the exceptions in H 203 should have a full source citation including a page number.
LCSH, emphases mine
I just noticed that the email notification has a subject line "Library of Congress Weekly Digest Bulletin." A holdover from when the lists were weekly?
