Dear Library of Congress Subject Authorities,
I would really like a subject heading for FOUND POETRY. I bet you can figure out cross references to poetry and found objects and the like, right? The zine that prompts this request, is Word Math. But you have some books in your collection that might enjoy being so described, too:
Dancing on the pedals : the found poetry of Phil Liggett, the voice of cycling [edited by] Doug Donaldson
Foundlings : uncollected found poetry by John Robert Colombo
You might also be interested in the Wikipedia entry, the Found Poetry Project, and a buncha results from a search of your website for the phrase "found poetry."

Hey Alex, Thanks for your
Hey Alex,
Thanks for your suggestion on the Cuteness post and this one.
I thought to submit proposals you had to be officially designated by your institution or something. And have a lot better grip on what to do with this form than I do.
But I did the next best thing. I printed out my post and mailed it to Sandy, who will probably translate it into a late-20th century form of catalogerese and mail it to his good friends at the Lib of Con.

You have to be a SACO
You have to be a SACO member, which Columbia is, but I'm guessing Barnard is not. When I want to submit a proposal, I do some research and hand my findings over to our SACO coordinator (Susan) who is proficient in scary form-ese.
The material I catalog rarely requires the creation of a new heading, but I'm always hopeful! Keep your eyes open for Rungus language (different from Rungu language). Not very timely, given that my warrant was from 1969, but it ain't dead yet!
