Four plus months after the passing of our beloved Partners, we were finally ready to welcome a new kitty into our lives. In fact, we're planning on having two: both gray tabbies, like the dearly departed.
The first, Farfel, has already joined us. He's supposedly 18 months to 2 years old and came from Kitty Kind, a no-kill cat rescue. We met him at the PetCo near Union Square where he flirted outrageously with everyone who passed his cage. Luckily, we claimed him first.
The second she turns 12-weeks-old we hope to bring the-kitten-to-be-named-later home.

Nice...my cat went AWOL 3
Nice...my cat went AWOL 3 weeks ago...spent half-an-hour last night following him around the courtyard outside the neighbourhood library, but he seems to have gone native...miss him dearly, but at least he's alive and well...

It is nice that you've at
It is nice that you've at least seen him, but I bet you're lonely without him at home.
Do you think the library poached him from you?!? Do you think cats like book paste?

hooray! i'm happy for you. would you like to add a two-year-old to the family? seriously, i'll send like a year's worth of food, etc. maybe even one of those food dispenser deals so he can just feed himself. whaddaya say? also, i'm still pushing for a "jarrito" (stick those exclamation marks wherever you'd like!)

Can we change e-dog's name
Can we change e-dog's name if we take him? See if you can get him to purr, and then we'll talk.

Welcome to Farfel! I hope I get to NYC some day so I can meet him and the to-be-named-kitten. They both look like excellent kitties.

Awwww, yay kitties!!
Here's our own tabby.
BTW I can't remember if I recommended this to you before, but if you have trouble integrating the two cats (although w/a kitten it should be easier), I love Cat vs. Cat.
Good luck!! When is the kitten turning 12 weeks?

It's SO NICE having Farfel
It's SO NICE having Farfel around. Except when he bites my neck, which he did this morning. He's a little psycho, but luckily I'm kind of charmed by that. He as supposed to only be adopted with another cat or into a home with other kitties, so I hope the integration will go well. The kitten lives with 8 other cats right now, so hopefully she won't have a problem! 12 weeks is first week in June.
Your tabby is a sweetie. Is he looking forward to emigrating? But is he the reason you know about the Cat vs. Cat book? (Is he even a he; sorry to make assumptions!)

Hero is the cat whose sex no
Hero is the cat whose sex no one could agree on! When the ACC got Hero, they put down "unneutered male." The rescue group pulled Hero from the ACC & took him to get snipped. The vet told them Hero was a spayed female, so that's what we adopted her as. But after a month or two, she started trying to mount Mr. B (male) all the time & being a little aggressive, so the rescue suggested we have the vet shave her & check for a spay scar. Instead, the vet pointed out Hero's empty nutsac. But by then Hero was firmly "she" in our minds... so she's our trans cat!
I think all of our cats have individually made us reach for that book. Adopting 3 adult cats unknown to each other (w/in, like, 6 weeks) was, er, not super-smart, but mostly it's worked out decently. We're still working on it, actually, but it's okay.
Hero does little bites too. Does Farfel mean them to be aggressive/punitive? Hero's seem mostly to be love bites (which occasionally get TOO love-y, heh). Although she's the quickest to chomp if she gets pissed off.
BTW I can't remember if you started reading Charlaine Harris or not, but there's a new Sookie Stackhouse book out! The NYPL doesn't even have it listed in their system yet, but I was able to go pick up a copy @ my local Queens Library branch yesterday, hehehe.

Wow, that is a great trans
Wow, that is a great trans kitty story. I hope I'm not being insensitive to hir struggle.
It sounds like Farfel's biting is the same as Hero's. It's playful, but sometimes inappropriate. I suspect sometimes it's also punitive--like at 7am when he wants us to wake up and feed him and he nibbles our necks. And there's plenty of food in the bowl, I might add.
I've only read the first two or three Sookie Stackhouse novels, so no hurry. So far of the recommendations you gave me, Carrie Vaughn is my favorite. Happy reading, though!
I hadn't noticed your vegans of color blog link before, Ms. Mean Vegan. It's awesome. I'll alert my VOC friends, and others. I've fallen off the vegan wagon a couple of times when I was hungry and no amount of vegetables, soy, or wheat product could sate me. I think I'm now officially "vegan except for pizza about once a month."
