I mentioned in my review of Delirium, the first book in Oliver's dystopian trilogy, that I was already halfway through Pandemonium when I was writing that review. I didn't mention that in order to procure Pandemonium, I left work about 90 minutes earlier than usual (since the closest branch of NYPL that had it was closing at 7). In other words, I was hooked.
I kind of hate when I get like that, snarfing books down at top speed, reading without tasting. Pandemonium is just as compelling as Delirium, and the heroine, being more self-reliant is more likable. She's now a member of the resistance, endures hardships, and knows how to handle a knife.
As I was in the first book, I'm still a little nervous about the possible religious message, especially when protagonist [Magda]Lena recites the forbidden Psalm 23 (The Lord is my shepherd...) to herself, "for revenge." I'm also concerned that the author is conveying anti-anarchist and anti-communist sentiments in her portrayal of the resistance movements.
Also, the surprise, cliffhanger ending really irritated me. I can't say why without spoiling it for you, though.

Need to put this on reserve!
Need to put this on reserve!
I really liked Delirium.
Last year I started reading two separate trilogies - this one by Lauren Oliver, and one by Ally Condie that started with "Matched". I started to read the second Condie book called "Crossed", but it didn't hold my interest.

I read Matched because you
I read Matched because you recommended it. I liked it, but not enough to read Crossed. Or maybe it was my anti-religion bias that caused me to drop the trilogy.

I also scarfed these two
I also scarfed these two books down at an unreasonable pace - and now I'm cursing myself because the third won't be out for SO LONG. THIS (I am shaking a fist) is why I should _never_ start a series until it has ended!
I did discover a little novella (delirium #1.5) called Hana, only available on e-book. I'm going to read it, of course, but I haven't yet.

I've been wanting to get hold
I've been wanting to get hold of Hana, but haven't been sure if I could, since I don't generally buy books, and no libraries seem to have it.

I know my library certainly
I know my library certainly doesnt have it, I suspect because of Amazon. (I blame everything on them, this isn't rooted in science or fact). I have only seen it on kindle, and it's just $2.99 so I will probably just buy it. eventually. Is there a way to lend kindle books? i would share it. (I'm new to e-books)
