I've long wanted to be able to link directly to my library's and also Library of Congress records, but the URLs generated in Voyager Endeavor (now ExLibris Voyager) are, alas, unstable. However, some enterprising enterprisers developed this canned search generator that creates a stable URL for your search or for the record itself in multiple views.
I first learned of this when Columbia University reference librarian Sarah Witte demo'd CUL's version at a meeting. It eventually occurred to me that by changing the base URL I could use the same script to make LOC links. And then it occurred to me to search around the old web for "voyager canned search generator," and I discovered that this wasn't a Columbia innovation and that it was in fact in use at a number of institutions.
The same Texas A&M University Libraries team that created the search generator developed some other tools and wrote an article about them.
Daniel Xiao, John Paul Fullerton. "Developing utility tools to enhance Voyager access, search and workflow automation." Library Hi Tech 26, no. 1 (January 1, 2008): 95-109.
If you can't access the article yourself, I can send you a pdf.

Thanks, Jenna! We had been using this until they upgraded Voyager in December 2008. Now we have stable URLs.

That's, cool. Jonathan. I didn't know the upgrade had stable URLs. Can you create RSS feeds/alerts on searches? That's the other thing I've been wishing I could do.
