If you read this blog regularly (or irregularly or once in a while) you know that when I'm not posting book and zine reviews, I'm interrogating, mocking and/or admiring Library of Congress Subject Headings. I was inspired to do that by Sandy Berman, who wrote Prejudices and antipathies: a tract on the LC subject heads concerning people about bias in library metadata in 1971.
If you've been reading this blog a while and have a better memory than I do, you might remember that most years I post an appeal for people to send Sandy a card or letter or leave a comment for me to mail him on his birthday, October 6. This year, Sandy turns 80, and Jim Danky decided Sandy's friends and admirers should honor Sandy's birth and life by collecting money for nonprofits designated by the birthday boy.
Danky needed a little help getting the message out and so called me. I needed a little more help, so I IMd Laura Crossett, and we came up with this: http://bibliogadfly.wordpress.com. Please consider donating money, and just as importantly, leaving a note for Sandy in the comments.
