Sandy Berman sent this letter to American Libraries on December 6, 2011.
Here's the text, in case you can't read it or the web can't crawl it:
Dear Colleagues,
Not long ago, nearly everyone went berserk when a deranged Florida minister publicly torched his own copy of the Koran. On November 15th, the NYPD, acting on orders from Mayor Bloomberg, tossed into dumpsters 5,000 books comprising the Occupy Wall Street People's Library. That's bibliocide on a massive scale, wantonly conducted by government itself. Yet the public and media do not evidence much outrage. ALA's next "banned books" inventory should include every title trashed by Bloomberg's storm troopers. Will it?
With best wishes,
Sanford Berman
