The titular Girl is Elite, the oldest of five kids with a crackhead mom and no dad. She's doing well in school, has a boyfriend, and a best friend, and is a powerful singer. But she's also raising her sibs and having a hard time keeping it together when her mother disappoints her again and again.
It's a fun and absorbing girl-from-the-hood fairy tale where bad things happen, but everything is alright in the end. I think it could have used one more round of edits for consistency, but maybe you don't care in a girl-makes-good fantasy story like this one.
