The summer before her senior year, Santa Cruz lifer Anise gets the news that her aunt has suffered an injury. She and her dad have to spend two months there, taking care of Anise's cousins in Nebraska. There's a boy. Sometimes teen novels where the protag spends the whole time getting in her own way are frustrating. Girl Out of Water is a good-enough read, but lite.
