Full disclosure: author Melissa Morrone is my good friend. I saw "author," and not "editor," because although most of the words in this book aren't hers, this oral history goes way beyond edited contributions. Then again, as a contributor to Mel's first book, Informed Agitation, I was pleased to have an editor who actually edited--as in provided substantial feedback, which in my experience is rare. Melissa did put out a call for participation, but she did significant work curating her subject and crafting her questions and how the responses are organized. It's almost like she's a librarian.
I dogeared like a thousand pages, especially observations made by Elaine Harger, Alison Macrina, Jessamyn West, and I forget who else, but I'll come back to this at some point and share a few of my favorites.
