The best thing about this first entry in a paranormal fiction series is that the sympathetic characters are evil. The succubus, imp, vampires and demons have one angel in their posse, but the titular character doesn't think much of him. The others like the angel okay, but mostly because he's a drinking buddy.
I plan to read the next book in the series, but so far I'm not super excited about the writing or the characters. One, the series seems to be cross-promoted as romance and paranormal fiction, so there's a little more bodice ripping than I really need to read about, but also Mead's writing is a little self-impressed, as is her protagonist.
Sadly, that doesn't matter to me since I'm incapable these days of reading much quality literature.
In case my review has left you wondering what the book is about, the set-up is that someone is attacking immortals. Georgina Kincaid, a Seattle-based succubus and independent bookstore assistant manager, is a suspect. She flirts with some dudes and investigates the crime. Sex and danger ensue.
