I read this based on my friend A.j. Michel's suggestion. She called it Jayne (or Judith?) Krantz with an MFA. It is definitely a well-written trashy romance thriller with descriptive verbs and clever imagery, which is an appealing genre. There are lots of surprises in the book, which are impressive, but ultimately, I didn't like it because despite exhibiting knowledgeable of feminism, all of the women are striving, hateful, stereotypical business cats. Even the Black and queer women are basically all that is wrong with corporate/white feminism. Maybe it's a send-up of all those things, but it didn't read that way to me.
