I am confused by this cover. Anyone else? I'm not saying it's not a good book, because it is. I read it on my tablet, so didn't see the cover much anyway.
The protagonist, CeCe, short for Crimson Celeste, is a gifted child with little parental support. Her mom is all but leveled by The Sad, and CeCe's dad isn't in the picture. That she manages to survive racism, loneliness, bullying, poverty, and social workers without much help is to her credit. She has a few friends, but they're gold.
There are other things I want to say, but they're spoiling. Recommened, if you can handle the occasional adult novel.
