Heather Hopkowitz's family is Jewish, but not Jewish, though her father was raised observant. When Heather's family takes a month-long Caribbean vacation and park Heather with dad's old friend Nate Greenwald's for the duration, Heather is exposed to Shabbos, shul, and hunky Heshy Rabinowitz.
She finds that she loves the rituals, food, and people and discovers she wants to keep them going even after she returns home. Except her mother isn't about that--judging orthodox Jews as fanatical.
I don't remember where I got this book. Who gave it to me? Celia? Or did I find it in the laundry room?
