This graphic novel-style handbook takes you through the process of having a medical and a surgical abortion. True to its title, it's a handbook, not a novel. It's a like a high-end pamphlet you might get in a clinic. I hope it will be useful to people seeking abortions, but to me it's a little safe and overemphasizes how hard a decision having an abortion is (not can be). For something published by Fantagraphics, it's tamer than it has to be.
But...I'm not the audience. My unplanned pregnancy days are presumably behind me. Pregnancy at my age typically involves the medical establishment. I can see where a print book like this could be a dogsend to someone whose primary source of information is the internet, which I bet serves up a lot of horrible shit if you ask it about getting an abortion.
