I was a little creeped out by Harris's dedication, "For all those readers who want every last sip of Sookie." I wonder if she really thinks of her fans as vampires? Let me be clear that I like Sookie, but I'm not a fanatic about it. What I am a fanatic about is reading. I like to be thorough, so when I learned of this collection of short stories that complements or fills in the Sookie Stackhouse series, I requested it from the library right away.
It contains five stories, each published elsewhere first, but one of them, Dracula Night, was revised from its original appearance in Many Bloody Returns. It's a nice, light read that does exactly what it's supposed to do, give the reader a little more insight and background about its heroine. The last story, Gift Wrap didn't really ring true for me, but maybe I'm just being a prude.

I may have to read some of these Sookie Stackhouse books already. I watched the first season of True Blood. After the first couple of episodes I vowed not to watch anymore seasons. Anna Paquin must've lost her acting abilities since winning that Oscar at the age of, what, nine, 'cause I think she's terrible in this show. Anyway, all that to say that I got to the end of the series and now I'm kinda sorta hooked. Perhaps the Sookie books will be good for summer reading. xo

Anna Paquin isn't good in the show because she is totally wrong for the part. I'd really like to see a buxom size 10 in the role.
