Okay, I was super-stressed and considered removing the stressor from my life. Instead of working on the conference presentation I've been worrying about I borrowed the fourth in the Mercedes Thompson series from the library when I returned the third. A friend talked me down from my panic, but I already had the book, so I figured I may as well snarf it up. I also wrote the first part of my presentation.
All of the books in this series are compelling. Briggs can tell a story, and Mercy is a likable sassy heroine. What I really like about this one is Mercy exploring being dependent on and even occasionally in the thrall of those she loves, especially so soon after being raped. Very real. So yeah, I guess I’d recommend this book to romance readers, as well as to paranormal fiction fans.
CATS: Medea doesn’t play a prominent role in this installment, but I suspect she will in the next one. I’m pretty sure she’s some kind of supernatural herself.
