Terran spaceman Jeff Kerwin has long felt a compulsion to return to his birth planet, Darkover. When he gets the chance, he starts fucking up, pretty much on his first day back. He eventually finds himself at home in a circle of telepaths mining for precious metals psychically. As comfortable as that feels, he causes some culture clashes with his Terran possessiveness and jealousy.
I sound like I'm making fun of the book, and I sort of am, but it's older than I am and needs some understanding. It's weird and sad that lesbian feminist Bradley's first few Darkover protagonists are angry machos. (Then again, Bradley was reported to be quite the bro herself.)
