My friends Lia Friedman and Torie Quiñonez and their friends make dioramas. Crafty librarians are so friggin' adorable! Especially when their craft projects depict things like the radical cult filmBorn in Flames.

Although I kind of hate the whole "feral librarian" thing that folks including Jim Neal champion, I have to admit that I really like what Chris has to say. If you participate in Book Mooch, maybe send your cast off paperbacks to a books to prisoners program. Note their particular interests, which include dictionaries, African-American history and fiction, and ... westerns! - Santa Fe Public Library Blog
They promote events, recommend books, and geek out with posts like Library of Congress Subject Headings (or, how you can find everything on a topic. My Library Underground friend Amy Mullin, the blog's author as far as I can tell, turned me onto the site with her bibliographic essay on tattoo lit. I also favor the Tamiment Library, NYU's photostream

I hear ya on the whole feral librarian meme, but I guess I'm trying to use it ironically, or at least in a way of reclaiming a term that is usually used as a not so thinly veiled put-down. And, I don't mind being an example of someone without an MLS/MLIS who has managed to run public services at a major academic library for years without peeing on the carpet ;-)
