I had to close some Firefox tabs because my computer was breathing heavy trying to support them all. But as I've said before, I can't just close tabs without taking care of them in some way--tagging them to delicious, doing the task that they remain open until I've done (usually adding a new library to my zine libraries list), or blogging them here.
- E. J. Josey, Legendary Activist Librarian and Leader, Dies at 85
I wish I had something eloquent to say about E.J., whom I had the honor to meet at few times at ALA conferences. What you need to know is that he was one of the most important librarians of the 20th century, especially when it comes to matters of diversity in librarianship. I've heard my father say a number of times that E.J. mentored dozens, if not hundreds of librarians of color. He wasn't a liberal; he was militant. And yet he was still elected ALA President and an Honorary Membership, the association's highest award. - The F Bomb
Teen feminist blog. - Grammar Girl mp3 casts
I'm probably the last to know, but just in case I'm not, if you're a language geek or just someone who thinks things should be done properly, this is a great site for you. These are five minute or so mp3 casts and usually transcripts on all sorts of grammar topics. Grammar Girl Mignon Fogarty delineates differences between US and British usage, too. Everything I've looked up has been covered (e.g. farther vs. further), and unlike on mean old NPR there's no expiration date on free downloads. - Methodology, Part I: How to Score the Obama Administration's Information Policy
It's nice to see Eli Edwards blogging again now that she's got a JD to go with her MLS. I hope she keeps it up! - Morton Grove Public Library's MatchBook service
