In trying to catalog the zine Reproductive Autonomy: Crossing the Species Border, I discovered that the Library of Congress does not have a subject heading for REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS. MESH does, but LC doesn't.
What LC offers up instead are things like:
ABORTION
BIRTH CONTROL
HUMAN REPRODUCTION
POPULATION POLICY
WOMEN
with subdivisions like:
GOVERNMENT POLICY
LAW AND LEGISLATION
POLITICAL ASPECTS
SOCIAL ASPECTS
You might be able to mix and match the above to come up with something useful (though for this zine, about ANIMAL WELFARE, not ANIMAL RIGHTS, per LC's scope note, we're talking mostly about cows, not human women, so maybe it's a little different), but intuitive or logical...not so much! Not even a cross reference.
Why do they hate my (and my bovine friends') reproductive freedom?
And why does their catalog time out so damned fast?
