It was really hard to choose a Lower East Side Librarian Library of Congress Subject Heading of the Week for Week 6, February 10, 2010.
One runner up is the BLACK-THROATED LOON (note hyphen), but they're not as loony looking as I would have liked.
I also like how these three progress from one to the next:
(C) 150 Gay legislators [May Subd Geog] [sp2010001327]
550 BT Legislators
(C) 150 Ice dancing—Officiating [May Subd Geog] [sp2010001326]
550 BT Sports officiating
(A) 150 Lesbians in the performing arts [May Subd Geog] [sp2010000504]
550 BT Performing arts
These two also go together nicely:
150 Anonymous persons in literature [Not Subd Geog] [sp2010001121]
(C) 150 Remorse in art [Not Subd Geog] [sp2010001322]
But the winner is…
(C) 150 Impunity [May Subd Geog] [sp2009008107]
550 BT Privileges and immunities
550 RT Punishment
I'd really like to see some other PRIVILEGE headings, e.g. PRIVILEGE, WHITE, PRIVILEGE (WHITE), or WHITE PRIVILEGE. Or would it be better with PRIVILEGE paired with RACE? And also CLASS, GENDER, etc.
Next week…a guest LCSHWatch by Carrie Pirmann!
