(C) 150 Conspiracy theories [May Subd Geog] [sp2009007844]
680 Here are entered works on theories that postulate that certain events or phenomena occurred as a result of conspiracies among interested parties. Works on a particular event that is considered by some to be the result of a conspiracy are entered under the heading or headings appropriate for the event.
550 BT History—Errors, inventions, etc.
! This heading is so needed at the Library of Congresss. It's shocking it's taken this long. Thank you to the Vanderbilt University cataloger who proposed it for Voodoo histories : the role of the conspiracy theory in shaping modern history!
(C) 150 Escape artists [May Subd Geog] [sp 97006017]
* 450 UF Escapologists
Escapologists? Really? I guess so—at least according to Cartoonstock, which has collected 8 escapologists cartoons.
150 Heretics [May Subd Geog] [sp2009007965]
550 BT Persons
Well that's a helpful Broader Term! I can so see a researcher thinking to herself, "Okay, I got everything on HERETICS; oh, wait, I'd better read up on PERSONS, too." Actually, though, the current authority record doesn't list PERSONS as a BT, and it does list BUDDHIST and CHRISTIAN HERETICS and also JEWISH HERETICS as a proposed update.
(C) 150 Memes [May Subd Geog] [sp2009006151]
550 BT Idea (Philosophy)
550 RT Memetics
Don't you wish they'd provided a scope note?!? Perhaps in the form of a viral video, LOLcat, or ten things about me survey?

150 Christian vacation schools—Exercises, recitations, etc. [sp 85141698]
550 BT Recitations
Vacation schools? What the hell is that? Especially a Christian vacation school. Doesn't sound like much of a vacation. The first paragraph of a Time article, "Most of us cling to a version of summer left over from our childhood-a memory of opened hydrants, a lifeguard's whistle, the smell of cocoa butter on skin. For me, this has to include Vacation Bible School, held every summer at the Methodist church in my hometown. Kids would gather in the musty sanctuary for songs featuring hand gestures that seemed, for our brand of Methodism, dangerously close to dancing. We played Bible tag, memorized the books of the Old Testament and drank gallons of KoolAid out of waxy paper cups. Our teachers entertained us so well that we scarcely noticed that with every Popsiclestick ark they helped us build, they were molding our little souls."
150 Women political activists [May Subd Geog] [sp 89002922]
* 550 BT Women in politics CANCEL
Is WOMEN IN POLITICS would no longer a useful term for WOMEN POLITICAL ACTIVISTS because someone has realized that elected office kills activism?

Thanks! I think I knew the info in the 2nd paragraph, but clearly lost control of my faculties a little and also was sloppy in my authority file checking as the earlier commenter commented. But the 550 field--see also to vs. from--I hadn't previously fully understood. Still and all, I'm not sure a PERSONS researcher really needs to consider HERETICS. It's kind of funny, though.

Ah, you did not grow up in
Ah, you did not grow up in the Midwest, where Vacation Bible School (or VBS, to those in the know) is a way of life. I never went to one, but I know many people who did.

I lived in the Midwest from ages 2-7, but did manage to miss out on the concept and reality of VBSes. I did go to a Unitarian pre-school, though.
