Tedious tale of
lesbian crush on straight girl,
father issues too.
I know it's a classic, but I found it dull, dull, dull. Also, and perhaps this is forgivable given its original 1959 pub date, but the "I'm a lesbian because my father mistreated me" thing is a little problematic, eh?
Reading the introduction, I learn that Bannon was friend with Marijane Meaker, who wrote Dinky Hocker Shoots Smack as M.E. Kerr and Sandra Scoppetone, author of Suzuki Beane, among other things, back in the day. That's pretty cool!
