After reading Rochelle's blogpost, Confessions of a Technofaux, I'm somehow caught on the idea of listing how tech-savvy you are not, in contrast to the usual blog fare of tech tips.
To give a little more context, I believe I'm viewed by my colleagues as pretty web efficient, and possibly I am in this context--for my age and especially for someone as interested in print media as I am.
Here are mine
- Podcasting. I am categorically uninterested--in creating or listening to them. I do watch the occasional online video, but they have to be short.
- I do not have an mp3 player and it would probably take me a long time to figure out how to use one.
- I'm not interested in games or gaming for Barnard. The only online game I even like is a version of Boggle. I also used to be partial to WordZap, another Boggle-like game.
- I don't generally text. That's mostly because I'm cheap, and I don't have an unlimited texting plan.
- I don't generally use my cell phone as anything but a phone. Not even to take pictures, which my current phone can't do, but my last one could.
- Twitter is not something I want to get involved in.
- Unlike Rochelle, I'm not looking forward to a comfortable ebook reader. It's not impossible that I'll use one someday or even eventually like it, but I can't imagine it.
- I've never Skyped.
- My music set-up at home is a boombox, and three CDs are stuck in it. Much the dismay of a sound guy I dated, my stereo speakers are one on top of the other.
- I'm dreading this whole DTV conversion, cuz I have an oldish tv at home, and no cable.
- I didn't have sound on my computer at home for years because I'd misplugged the speaker cables. And I used to be a theater electrician, so I know something about plugging.
- Even now, at work, one of my speakers is on the fritz, and I have done nothing about it other than some wire wiggling.
- I don't know how TrackBack works
I'm sure there's a lot more, but that's all I've got right now, and it's almost time for me to leave for the day.

Let me make the DTV thing a
Let me make the DTV thing a little easier for you. You can get a coupon for $40 off the converter you need. Just don't do it TOO early, because the converters are still in development and you want to get the "final product." I got all this information from a human at a conference, but it's on the dtv dot gov website. :-)
I have my analog side, as well. Good meme!

Karen, when I saw your name
Karen, when I saw your name I figured you were going to explain TrackBack, which I guess I do sort of get, I just find it a little creepy.
Good advice on the waiting for the last possible version of the converter.
So...what are your tech-aversion confessions???
