Beginning in December of last year I have been reviewing all the books I read and some of my favorite zines right here on my blog. From 12/1/08 to 11/30/09 I reviewed 96 books and zines. Here are some statistics and links to my top 20 of the year...
Of the 96 books and zines
- 78 were by female authors (79 if you count the Zine Yearbook, which had male and female editors)
- 67 were novels, including teen and tween fiction
- 26 were paranormal fiction books
- 24 were by or about (e.g. a biography) people of color
- 22 were biographies (including autobiographies)
- 19 were teen/tween books
- 9 were zines (the number of zines I read is I'm guessing between 100 and 300, but I only review my absolute favorites, and not at all consistently)
- 8 by LGBTQ authors
- 8 graphic or illustrated novels
- 3 non-biography, non-zine non-fiction
