This interactive, whirlwind session will have something for people anywhere on the zine-knowledge spectrum: people who rhyme "zine" with "wine" to long-time zine librarians.
We will address the following aspects of zine collections:
- selection / acquisitions
- description & access
- outreach
- instruction & programming
All participants will also walk away with a zine they made themself, as well as zines made by fellow attendees. METRO will provide paper (8.5 x 11 and 11 x 17), color pencils, pens, markers, and scissors. Please feel free to bring ink pads, stamps, CC-licensed photos you’d like to use, stickers, and any other items suitable to the medium. (If you have a typewriter that you’d be willing to bring, that would be especially welcome.)
This workshop is suitable for people in all types of libraries: academic, public, school, corporate, etc. and in all roles from support staff to administration, including folks who do most of their work behind the scenes.
